Robert Farley will present the Public Policy Program lecture Grounded: The Case for Abolishing the United States Air Force at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22 in Benjamin Apple Meeting Rooms 3-5, located in the Charles B. Degenstein Campus Center at Susquehanna University. The event is free and open to the public.
Based on Farley's book of the same name, the lecture will address the historical role and function of different branches of the military, and make the case for the redundancy of the U.S. Air Force and the need to absorb certain Air Force functions into different branches of the military.
Farley has worked at the University of Kentucky's Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce since 2005. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon in 1997, and his doctorate degree from the University of Washington in 2004.
Farley's research concentrates on military organizational politics and the diffusion of military doctrine and technology across the international system. He is the author of Grounded: The Case to Abolish the United States Air Force, and The Battleship Book.
