Katrin Winkler ’17 has been working for the past two years toward a master’s degree in international affairs at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany.

“The excellent professors and frequent opportunities to engage in extracurricular projects and clubs at Susquehanna gave me the mentoring I needed to get into several competitive graduate schools, and I am flourishing at the Hertie School,” says Winkler, who majored in English and publishing & editing.

A semester spent studying through our award-winning GO program in Cape Town, South Africa, sparked her interest in international politics and questions of justice.

This shift led her to also spend a semester in the nation’s capital through the Lutheran College Washington Semester.

“The flexibility of my degree allowed me to transition into an entirely new field easily. Further, the extraordinary study abroad and internship opportunities that Susquehanna offered were crucial to putting me on the path I’m on now,” Winkler says.
