We're a Pittsburgh Promise Partner
We're a Pittsburgh Promise Partner

September 28, 2017

Susquehanna University was recently named a Preferred College Partner by The Pittsburgh Promise, a scholarship program for Pittsburgh public school students.

Susquehanna is one of 19 Pennsylvania colleges and universities accepted to the Preferred College Partners initiative.

As a partner, Susquehanna will provide grants to support room and board to Promise-eligible students who are accepted to the university, beginning with 2018 high school graduates. Partner schools also provide targeted transition and academic support services to ensure student retention and success.

"Choosing a college is one of the most important decisions a family will make and we are thrilled that The Pittsburgh Promise recognizes the work we do every day to make college accessible to high achieving students," said Madeleine Rhyneer, vice president for enrollment and marketing. "We look forward to welcoming these exceptional 'Promise scholars' and supporting them in their college journey. Susquehanna has an enviable record graduating students who get jobs and who earn significantly more, on average, than college graduates nationwide. We can't wait to see how these  'Promise scholars' will add to our campus community."

The Pittsburgh Promise advocates for improving the quality of education and increasing the preparedness and diversity of the region's workforce.

Pittsburgh has the largest Promise program in the United States. Since its inception in 2008, The Pittsburgh Promise has funded more than 7,300 students enrolled in 124 public and private colleges across Pennsylvania at a cost of more than $102 million.
