Celebrating the Inauguration of President Jonathan D. Green

Susquehanna University’s 15th President

Oct. 19 and 20, 2017

Inauguration events for President Jonathan D. Green will be held Oct. 19 and 20, 2017. They will bring the campus community together with alumni and friends, delegates from higher education institutions, business and civic leaders, and other invited guests. We look forward to celebrating together this milestone occasion in Susquehanna’s history!

The installation ceremony and select other events will be live-streamed and recorded for later viewing for those unable to attend.

We are honored to welcome distinguished representatives of higher education institutions and other special guests to our inaugural events. If needed, please coordinate obtaining the appropriate regalia with your college or university for participation in the academic procession.

 

Registration

Please RSVP your attendance at inauguration events by Sept. 29. Your invitation included a special link to an online form.

When you arrive on campus, please let us know you are here by registering. You will receive a name tag and any event-related tickets and information.

Friday, Oct. 20 from 8 a.m.–1:30 p.m., Main Level, James W. Garrett Sports Complex

Delegates may check their regalia at registration on Oct. 20, until the robing begins after lunch.

 

Accommodations

Out-of-town guests are encouraged to book hotel rooms as soon as possible. A limited number of rooms are being held at Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Selinsgrove Inn, in addition to Country Inn & Suites in Lewisburg. Please indicate that you are attending Susquehanna’s inauguration. (Homecoming-Reunion Weekend at Susquehanna begins the evening of Oct. 20.)

 

Robing and Assembly of Academic Procession | 1 p.m. | Friday, Oct. 20

James W. Garrett Sports Complex

The platform party will use Apple Community Room to robe for the academic procession. Delegates, honorary degree recipients and other participants in the procession should report to the O.W. Houts Gymnasium no later than 1 p.m. to robe. Faculty members may also use the gym, if desired. The procession will depart the sports complex at 1:30 p.m. along Weber Way to Weber Chapel Auditorium.

Parking

Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. You may park in any non-handicapped space. More than 200 additional parking spaces are available in the Sassafras Street lot behind the football stadium. From campus, go down University Avenue to Market Street. Turn right and proceed two blocks to Sassafras Street. Turn right again and travel approximately one-quarter mile. The lot will be on your right.

 

Special Needs

Special accommodations for all inaugural events are available for those who use wheelchairs, have visual or hearing impairments, or have other mobility or health conditions. Spaces in the Weber Chapel lot and those near the James W. Garrett Sports Complex will be reserved for people with special needs (with advance registration). Please contact the Office of Event Management at 570-372-4354 or oem@susqu.edu to reserve these services for you or any of your guests.

 

Shuttle Service

Shuttle bus services will be available to and from all parking lots to the Degenstein Campus Center, Cunningham Center for Music and Art, Weber Chapel and the Garrett Sports Complex before and after all events. Shuttle services will include stops at parking lots located at the Degenstein Campus Center, the Tudor House, the Admission House, Weber Chapel lot, TRAX parking lot and the Sassafras complex.

 

First Aid

A first aid station will be available in Weber Chapel during the Installation Ceremony and in Garrett Sports Complex during events occurring there.
