Support Susquehanna

On Sept. 10, 2016, during Homecoming-Reunion Weekend, donors and leadership volunteers gathered on the Charles B. Degenstein Campus Center lawn to celebrate Milestones, the annual event that recognizes loyal supporters devoted to making a difference at Susquehanna University. It is an opportunity to thank and honor the extraordinary people who keep Susquehanna strong.

Milestones 2016 also celebrated the 10th anniversary of Arthur Plaza, the beautiful fountain located near the campus center that honors members of the Susquehanna Society whose lifetime giving exceeds $1 million. The plaza was made possible by a gift from Lucille M. Arthur H'12 in honor of her late husband, Douglas E. Arthur '49, H'96.

Two couples, Robert L. and Deonne R. Gronlund and the late Raymond E. and the late Ruth Lowe Roush, reached this honor of distinction during the 2015-16 fiscal year and were inducted into the Susquehanna Society during the Milestones event.

We are proud that our supporters believe in our mission, and we're deeply grateful for their continued generosity and engagement. Thank you!

The quiet and thoughtful generosity of Bob and Dede Gronlund has helped shape Susquehanna University for many years. The Gronlunds made significant investments in the construction of the university's science building, which opened in 2010, and in the new admissions building now being built along University Avenue. These gifts have changed the landscape of our campus and have added vital resources that strengthen our curriculum and enhance the visit experience for prospective students and their families. Bob has been a member of the Susquehanna University Board of Trustees since 2004 and currently serves as a member of the Investment Committee and vice chair of the Audit Committee. Dede serves the local community and is an emeritus board member of the Susquehanna Valley Chorale.

Ruth and Raymond relocated to the Selinsgrove area after their retirements. They quickly became friends of the university and active members of the local community. Ruth and Ray served as president of the Snyder County Historical Society, and Ruth was a life member of the Women's Association of Susquehanna University. Throughout her lifetime, Ruth was a great friend of Susquehanna University and through her estate, she established the Raymond E. and Ruth L. Roush Scholarship Fund to support students with financial need from Snyder County. Their legacy will be remembered through the lives and achievement of Susquehanna students.
