The Senior Awards are presented to graduating seniors by their respective academic departments and other offices and organizations that recognize students for academic excellence, scholarship, leadership and service.

Susquehanna’s Leadership Awards were created to recognize awardees’ commitment to the betterment of the university and surrounding communities. The awards are made possible through the Baylor Family Endowment. Established in 1993, the endowment is an expression of the Baylor family’s appreciation for the university’s continued commitment to the region.

Baylor Leadership Award: Carson Long ’22
The Alumni Association’s Outstanding Seniors award dates back to 1962 and is presented to two seniors with good academic standing, are active in leadership roles, extracurricular activities, volunteer work and other accomplishments. Awardees exemplify Susquehanna’s traditions of achievement, leadership and service. The full list of recipients can be found here.
Kiara Bryant ’22 received a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and a Bachelor of Arts in communications with a focus in advertising and marketing. She is from Coplay, Pennsylvania.
During her time at Susquehanna, her extracurricular activities have included softball, the university orchestra, WQSU and Being the Dot, a podcast hosted by Stacey Pearson-Wharton, Susquehanna’s dean of health and wellness and director of Counseling Center.
Nominator Brad Posner, head softball coach, said, “Kiara has taught our team about diversity in active discussions with her teammates. She has also led discussions on diversity within her orchestra. She has been an activist outside of Susquehanna and represents herself and the university in extraordinary fashion.”
Marcellus Martin ’22 received a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He is from Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.
During his time as Susquehanna, his extracurricular activities have included Enactus, the football team, House of Hawks and the Pre-Law Society. He has also served as vice president of the Black Student Union and leadership coordinator for ATLAS (Aspire to Lead and Serve).
Nominator Michaeline Shuman, assistant provost of post-graduate outcomes and civic engagement, said, “Marcellus has maintained a high GPA while being actively engaged in several student organizations, taking on leadership roles, and making a significant impact on the ATLAS leadership program in Student Life. He spearheaded a spring break leadership retreat focused on embracing differences that included developing curriculum, facilitator guides and team builders as well as managing logistics. Time and time again, I have seen Marcellus positively contribute to our campus and local community.”
Susquehanna Athletics’ SUSKY Awards is an “Espys” style award show celebrating and honoring student-athletes. Hosted by Susquehanna’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the awards ceremony is organized and produced entirely by Susquehanna students.
