SU Recognized for Student Engagement, Innovative Teaching, Outcomes

Susquehanna University has been named among the 2019-20 Colleges of Distinction, which recognizes schools that deliver on four overarching factors: student engagement, innovative teaching, community and outcomes.

Founded in 2000, Colleges of Distinction is an online resource to help students, parents and guidance counselors navigate the college selection process.

Colleges of Distinction uses in-depth interviews with college executives, program directors, faculty, students and others to determine how schools deliver on student experiences.

Colleges of Distinction recognizes schools that have a proven record in the following four key areas:

  • Engagement: Students are provided opportunities to actively participate in their education by conducting independent research and studying abroad or pursuing internships.
  • Innovative teaching: Students learn in environments that encourage faculty-student interaction, where there is significant feedback and encouragement to communicate.
  • Vibrant communities: Colleges offer a variety of residential options, clubs and organizations to satisfy every interest. They have cultural and social opportunities and avenues for leadership, character and spiritual development.
  • Successful outcomes: The schools have a record of graduating satisfied, productive alumni who make an impact in their professions and through public service.
