Senior Heads to Austria for Grad Program
Prior to attending Susquehanna, Julie Casey '17, a native of Dallas, Pa., had never traveled internationally. Now, as she prepares for graduation, she looks forward to studying at the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) in Austria and a career in international marketing.
Her first trip abroad was with the business school's London Program. "It was the first time I traveled and I just fell in love with it," said the marketing major.
MCI is a private business school in Innsbruck, Austria, where Casey plans to earn a master's degree in international business and management. She endured a rigorous application process to become the first Susquehanna student to benefit from the university's relationship with MCI, which includes financial support for graduate students.
While studying abroad in London, Casey traveled to Bahrain to meet with Tim Murray '93, CEO of Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the largest aluminum smelters in the world. She also worked on a consulting project for a business in Prague, Czech Republic.
"I liked learning about business and new cultures at the same time," Casey said. "It gives you an entirely new perspective on things."
In addition to pursuing her master's degree in Austria, Casey will also get the opportunity to spend one of her MCI semesters abroad, possibly in Singapore.
"MCI has 200 partner universities, you can go anywhere around the world," she said. "I want more students to take advantage of our partnership with MCI. I'm so happy that I did."
