Susquehanna University is ranked No. 12 among College Raptor’s Top 15 Best Colleges for Study Abroad.

College Raptor Best Colleges ranking recognizes Susquehanna’s Global Opportunities (GO) program in which students study off campus in a culture different from their own, for at least two weeks or as long as a semester.

Susquehanna was among the first in the nation to require every student to have a meaningful cross-cultural experience, followed by scholarly reflection. In a time of geopolitical and economic complexity, cultural competency in the workplace is an essential skill.

The popularity of Susquehanna’s study abroad opportunities is the latest recognition of the university’s growing reputation in international education. Since 2013, the university has been recognized by The Princeton Review, U.S. News & World Report, The Christian Science Monitor, the Fiske Guide to Colleges and the Institute for International Education, which honored Susquehanna with the prestigious Andrew Heiskell Award for Internationalizing the Campus.

All data used in the College Raptor Best Colleges rankings is self-reported by colleges to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). This data is obtained from either the College Navigator website, which reflects the most recently-available data, or is downloaded via the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) database.

For the study abroad ranking, College Raptor incorporated data from the Institute of International Education’s (IIE) 2017 “Institutions by Undergraduate Participation in Study Abroad” report, and divided it by a weighted value of the two most recent years of total annual degrees conferred (according to IPEDS data) to get an estimated participation rate, with the highest participation rates being ranked highest.

College Raptor is an online platform that simplifies the college application process. Users can estimate and compare net price and academic fit at colleges and universities to find the best school for them.
