Susquehanna University's radio station, WQSU The Pulse, has won a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters (PAB) Excellence in Broadcasting award—making it the only university radio station in the state to win a PAB award.

WQSU won Outstanding Station Sponsored Event for its 18th Annual Toys for Tots drive.

"I am so proud of our students," said general manager Dawn Benfer. "They are doing a great job and learning so much, all while giving back to the community that we serve."

The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters ensures communities are well-served by local broadcasters through services in regulatory compliance, public policy advocacy and professional development programs.

WQSU won two PAB awards last year:

  • WQSU 50 Years of College Radio, WQSU team, Judge's Merit Award
  • WQSU River Hawks Football, Outstanding Radio Coverage of a Local Sporting Event

PAB awards will be distributed at a luncheon in May at the Hotel Hershey.
