The Blough-Weis Library offers an extensive array of services for our students, faculty and staff.

Request articles or borrow materials using ILLiad

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a free service for SU students, faculty and staff to borrow books, articles or other materials that the Blough-Weis Library does not own.

Before submitting an ILL request, search the Blough-Weis Library's online catalog  for books in our collection and search our A-Z Periodicals List for journals that we own. You may also check with a librarian to be certain that we do not have an available copy of what you need.

You can manage all of your interlibrary loan needs via our ILLiad interlibrary loan service. Note that logging on to ILLiad requires a valid Susquehanna University computer/email account. First-time use requires a very brief registration.

Some additional information on interlibrary loan:

  • You will be notified by email when your books or microforms arrive (microforms must be viewed in the library). These materials must be returned by the designated loan period found on the front of each item.
  • Periodical articles will be sent to you electronically or through campus mail if it is a printed copy. Either way, the articles are yours to keep. 
  • Book renewals are sometimes possible, but they must be requested through the Interlibrary Loan Department before the item's due date (see green wrapper on book for due date.) 
  • Lost materials are subject to the replacement cost determined by the institution where the item was borrowed from. SU students, faculty and staff are responsible for the replacement cost of lost items.

Behind the Service Desk

  • To search reserve titles found at the Service Desk, go to the Library's Online Catalog
  • Select "Reserve Desk" from the top menu bar 
  • Lookup reserve items by instructor, course number or course name
  • Ask for the item at the Service Desk 
  • You must have your university ID card to borrow the reserve materials at the Service Desk
  • Reserve materials borrowed from the Service Desk have loan periods determined by the instructor submitting the course readings 
  • Fines for overdue reserve materials are $1 per hour

The library offers a wide variety of reference services to all faculty, students and staff.
