One of the Nation’s Top Black Economists

Economics department head and professor Olu Onafowora was recognized as among the top 20% of leading Black economists in the nation, ranking him 40th out of 200 peers from top universities.

Susquehanna University Faculty Awards

Donald D. Housley Teaching Award

The Donald D. Housley Teaching Award recognizes a faculty member for distinguished teaching in the past academic year. Named for Dr. Donald D. Housley, a respected former Dean of Arts and Sciences and History Professor (1967-2004), and the first recipient of the Susquehanna University Teaching Award, it also honors his role in establishing the university’s first “teaching cell” — an intergenerational, cross-disciplinary faculty discussion on pedagogy — which later became the Center for Teaching and Learning.

John C. Horn Award for Distinguished Scholarship & Creative Activity

The John C. Horn Award for Distinguished Scholarship and Creative Activity memorializes Dr. John C. Horn, a former long-time member and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the University. This award recognizes a faculty member’s outstanding scholarship and conscientious service to the University, and the recipient offers a public lecture in the following academic year.
