Explore Medicine from a New Perspective

Join our Medical Humanities Initiative (MHI) and learn to examine medical education and the practice of medicine through a variety of lenses.

You’ll help faculty in interdisciplinary research that takes multiple approaches to the body and health, including the evolution of medicine from a historical perspective, medicine as a cultural practice and the body as a symbol and text.

MHI faculty will help you attend conferences and present your own original research to medical humanities scholars.

WHAT APPROACH DO YOU WANT TO TAKE?

Medical humanities applies the following interdisciplinary fields to medical education and practice:

  • Humanities — literature, philosophy, history, religion
  • Social sciences — anthropology, cultural studies, psychology, sociology, medicine
  • Arts — theatre, visual arts, music
