Kimberly Kaler

I began studying Spanish as a freshman in high school and continued thanks to the support of the great teachers I had. When I did my study-away experience as a Penn State student in Mexico, I fell in love with the culture and the people and knew I had made the right decision by studying the language.

In the summer of 2005, I started teaching at Susquehanna University as an adjunct instructor. Now, I'm a lecturer offering introductory and intermediate courses in Spanish, as well as occasionally teaching a Perspectives course or traveling with students on one of our GO programs.

I love Susquehanna for its beautiful campus, friendly colleagues, and its remarkable students. I enjoy getting to meet a variety of students with different academic interests through my introductory courses. I am even happier when I can convince one of them to continue studying the language.

I am also very lucky to be a part of our annual Latino Symposium every year, one of the Department of Modern Languages' biggest events. The best part of preparing for the event is working alongside students and faculty that I wouldn't otherwise see often.

When I'm not teaching or preparing activities for my classes, I love cross-country skiing, camping, and cooking. I'm always looking for new and adventurous recipes. In the winter, you'll likely find me doing a snow dance. Nothing makes me happier than a long winter of good snow and good skiing.

Courses taught:

  • PRDV-104 Perspectives
