Facilities & Instrumentation
In 2010, the Department of Chemistry joined the Department of Biology and the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in moving into a new, state-of-the-art, 81,000-square-foot science facility. The facility was built to exceed LEED certification standards, and its "green" features embody eco-friendly principles that faculty emphasize in class.
The building features 19 teaching and research labs, 30 prep and support spaces, and a rooftop greenhouse. The facility also features teaching labs designed to promote investigative lab experiences, as well as "workshop" classrooms, where lecture and lab can be tightly integrated.
