Our Music Technology Minor
What can our music technology minor do for you?
Ready to get an introduction to music production?
With our music technology minor, you'll start to explore studio and audio recording, engineering, and the use of computers, software and other technology in the music industry.
Get an introduction to music production with our music technology minor.
You'll learn studio and audio recording and engineering, explore the use of computers and software in the music industry and sample music composition courses.
A music technology minor is the perfect complement to any music major and is also open to non-music majors.
Take on a work-study job with our manager of technical services to get real-life experience in music technology and audio. Positions include:
• Recording Crew Chief
• Classroom Music Technology Support Specialist
• Weber Recording/Computer Music Studio Manager
• Live Event Support Assistant
• Live Concert Recording Engineers
Minor in Music Technology. Before declaring a minor in music technology, a student must obtain approval of the music technology adviser. Note that approval of this minor does not guarantee a place in the required music classes. Students must complete with a grade of C- or better 20 semester hours of coursework: MUSC-355 Audio Engineering Fundamentals; MUSC-356 Music Production in the Recording Studio; MUSC-367 Computer Music Composition; MUSC-368 Computer Music Performance; and four semester hours in an internship or music electives.
Double-counting restriction: students minoring in music technology may only apply 8 semester hours toward a music major.

Music Preparatory Program for Children and Adults
The program provides the surrounding communities with lifelong learning opportunities for professional music study and enrichment activities in an academic environment, including individual lessons in voice, piano, organ, and most band and orchestra instruments, along with group music classes for infants through adults.
The hallmark of the program is the rich collaboration among music faculty, music students, and the children and adults who take lessons and classes.
