Get ready for a rewarding career in health care by pairing a minor in health care studies with a major of your choice.

Our challenging and comprehensive academic programs will enhance your critical reading, writing, thinking and communicating skills for career options beyond clinical medicine. All of our students complete two required internship experiences to gain hands-on, real-world experience.

You’ll graduate with a solid foundation in the sciences — ready to further your study of health care in professional school. Health care studies minors will complete the courses, including anatomy and physiology, that are often prerequisites for the following careers:

  • Athletic trainer
  • Audiologist
  • Chiropractor
  • Exercise science
  • Nurse
  • Occupational therapist
  • Physician assistant (PA)
  • Public health official
  • Physical therapist
  • Pharmacist

Inside Health Care Studies

You want to make a difference in the world. Our alumni do that—from providing aid during the Ebola outbreak in Africa to doing cutting edge cancer research.

You can also graduate from SU with a liberal arts degree and enter an accelerated BSN program to become a nurse. Or you can move on to earn a doctorate in physical therapy with a health care studies minor.

You’ll have the flexibility to explore your options within different fields without sacrificing your interests outside the classroom. Play a sport, join one of our more than 140 student clubs or volunteer in the local community—things you wouldn’t be able to fit in if you’re locked into one of the six-year programs offered at other places.
