Go Turkey: Crossroads of Civilizations is a short-term program (2 weeks in late July andearly August), which will run in alternate years. The program focuses on identifying andunderstanding interactions between Western culture (i.e. Western Europe) and Eastern culture(i.e. the Middle East) within the political, social and religious systems of Turkey. To thatend, students will visit cultural and religious sites in Istanbul and Ankara, meet with religiousand non-profit leaders representing various minority groups living in Turkey, and visit bothTurkish and EU political institutions focused on Turkey's integration with the economic andpolitical systems of Western Europe. Preparation for the course entails readings and classdiscussions about Turkish politics and culture and Turkey's relationship with both Western and Middle Eastern countries. 2 SH. CC: Cross-Cultural.
