Application for Admissions Checklist
Counselors submit School Report Forms to us if you supplied an email address through your online application. Or ask an administrator of your high school to send a School Report Form directly to the Office of Admission. If you do not send a School Report Form, you will be required to send official or attested academic transcripts from all secondary schools, post-secondary schools and universities.
Official TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge English score report — can be waived for SU ELL graduates, or if your high school instruction is in English for all years.
SAT and ACT scores are optional, but may improve your chances for a merit scholarship.
Two recommendation letters. It is strongly suggested to have one from your school counselor. The other can come from a teacher or professor.
Passport copy of your name and photo page.
Completed Certification of Finances form with an official bank statement. The U.S. government's Department of Homeland Security requires that students show that they can support themselves financially by proving the first year's expenses. If you are offered a merit scholarship, this amount can be lower. Please note that full scholarships are not available. If you are sponsored by your government, the financial guarantee letter will be accepted instead of the certification of finances form.
If English is not your native language, you will be required to show proof of English proficiency. This can be accomplished by sending an official score report from one of the following exams.
Internet-based minimum score: 80
Computer-based minimum score: 213
Paper-based minimum score: 550
The official copy must be sent directly from the testing service. Our school code is 2820.
Minimum score: 6.0 overall band
Minimum score: 170
If you are a first-year undergraduate freshman applicant, your English requirement can be satisfied by achieving at least a 450 on the Critical Reading section of the SAT exam.
If you are a first-year undergraduate freshman applicant, your English requirement can be satisfied by achieving at least a 19 on the English section of the ACT exam.
If you have attended an IB (International Baccalaureate) high school program or an American High School abroad, you do not have to prove English proficiency. You may also be exempt if your high school is fully-instructed in English. Please contact your admission counselor for details.
Applicants wishing to transfer from accredited (or government recognized) two-year and four-year universities are welcome to apply to Susquehanna University. Unless there is an articulation agreement in place for your transferring institution, transfer credit will be awarded on an individual basis.
Please complete the Susquehanna University on-line application for admission form: Susquehanna International Transfer Application
If you have completed less than one year of university-level course work (30 credits), please send your official SAT or ACT scores if you would like to be considered for a merit scholarship.
Your official TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge English Exam scores will be required. Please see our English Proficiency Requirements.
Two letters of reference from faculty members will be required. Passport copy of your name and photo page.
Completed Certification of Finances form with an official bank statement. If you are offered a merit scholarship, this amount can be lower. Please note that full scholarships are not available. If you are sponsored by your government, the financial guarantee letter will be accepted instead of the certification of finances form. If you are transferring from another US university on an F-1 student visa, you must complete a SEVIS transfer form with a Designated School Official. Upon completion of the transfer in SEVIS, Susquehanna University will issue a new I-20 form to you.
If you have taken any of the examinations listed below, you may be eligible for transfer credit awards based on your major selection and grades (marks).
Advanced Placement (AP) Exams: An AP score of 4 or 5 receives the equivalent of four semester hours of course credit. See our AP credit policy.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma/Exams: An IB higher level examination score of 5 or greater receives the equivalent of four semester hours of course credit. IB certificate recipients may receive credit for up to two courses in each subject area for which a higher-level (HL) examination score of five or more has been achieved, subject to final confirmation by the appropriate university department.
GCE A-Level Results: General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE) results of C or higher may receive up to six credits per A-level exam.
Foreign Credit Evaluation: If you are planning to transfer university-level credit from a non-U.S. university, you will need to send us an official World Education Service course-by-course evaluation.
If you need assistance with your application for admission, or the U.S. higher education system, you can speak with professional counselors in your home country. EducationUSA has over 400 advising centers throughout the world. And the service is free. Please click on the EducationUSA logo above to find an advising center near you.
If you are receiving a scholarship from a government, educational organization, or an approved third-party company, you are considered a sponsored student.
Admissions requirements for sponsored students are the same as all other international student applicants. However, in place of the Certification of Finances form, an official sponsoring letter and financial guarantee document is required. The amount of support should be declared in U.S. dollars.
Sponsored students are not eligible for Susquehanna University merit scholarship awards.
The organizations listed below are all considered sponsoring organizations:
If you would like to apply for admission but you have not yet satisfied our English Proficiency Requirements, you can apply for conditional admission. If you are granted a conditional admission, you will be assigned to our on-campus English Language Learners (ELL) program.
You can also attend one of our English Language partner institutions: ELS Language Centers (Level 112 must be completed successfully for transfer). An official transcript will be required.
