Name: Tyler Shadle
Grad Year: 2022
Hometown: Tower City, PA
Major: Music Education, Theatre Performance
Where you went (are going) for GO:
I am planning on studying theatre in London!
What clubs/organizations are you involved in on campus?
Alpha Psi Omega (Theatre Honor Society), Harmonic Combustion (A Capella Group), Men's Glee Club, Orientation Team, University Choir and Chamber Singers
Why did you choose Susquehanna University?
Before committing to SU, I was able to recognize the close sense of community that there is on campus. It immediately felt like home to me! In addition, I noticed how truly caring the professors are about each individual student's success. I knew that SU would provide me with an environment where I always feel supported in my academic and extracurricular endeavors.
Describe your experience with research/internships:
I have had several different professors assign interesting, enjoyable research assignments that have sparked great interest in me (side note: SU does an incredible job with providing students with resources for research as well as the knowledge of how to use those resources!). Personally, I have not yet experienced an internship; however, when looking for internship opportunities, my professors and advisors have been immensely helpful in finding and applying for different companies' positions!
What is your favorite class and why?
Currently, I would have to say my favorite class I am taking is Western Theatre History. I have never been much a "history person," but my professor creates a class environment that strongly encourages creative and original thinking. It is highly informative and there is never a dull moment!
What is your favorite tradition?
I love getting to perform with the university music ensembles in the Candlelight service every winter!
Fun fact about you:
I am a big fan of very poor puns.
What does being a Student Ambassador mean to you?
SU has been so welcoming and gracious to me in so many ways; therefore, I want to do all that I can in order to show prospective students that this can be their home as well! Fortunately enough, being a Student Ambassador gives me an outlet to do this. I also enjoy getting to talk with people from completely different areas and backgrounds while sometimes getting to show them our beautiful campus!
