Susquehanna Champions for Growth enrich the Susquehanna experience by exemplifying its traditions of Spirit, Advocacy and Giving.
Through their dedication and pride, they cultivate lifelong relationships with their alma mater and help build a thriving culture of success for today’s students. Champions give back in many meaningful ways — by mentoring students, becoming alumni volunteers, attending university events, making gifts to Susquehanna and more.
There are two types of Susquehanna Champions – Senior Champions and Alumni Champions.

Alumni Champions advance Susquehanna’s mission by continuing the traditions of Spirit, Advocacy and Giving beyond graduation. With gratitude and ongoing engagement, they remain closely connected to their alma mater and help create meaningful opportunities for today’s students. By completing three signature alumni traditions each year, these champions lead by example — honoring the past, supporting the present and shaping the future of Susquehanna.
Alumni who complete all three traditions each year receive special recognition and benefits, including recognition at Homecoming-Reunion Weekend, an invitation to the Milestones-Reunion Brunch, listing in the annual Honor Roll of Donors, an exclusive Alumni Champion decal and, of course, the incredible feeling of giving back!
Gifts are renewable annually (July 1 – June 30), and no matter where life takes you, you’ll always carry the memories and shared traditions that connect you to the Susquehanna family.

A Tradition of Giving
You were once supported by the generosity of alumni and friends who believed in your potential. Now it’s your turn to pay it forward — to empower the next generation of Susquehannans and ensure the university continues to thrive.
By making a gift by June 30 — to any area of campus that is meaningful to you — you complete the tradition of Giving and become a vital part of Susquehanna’s legacy of support.
Your gift, of any size, is a powerful expression of Susquehanna pride and a reminder to students that they are part of a support alumni family who believe in them.
A Tradition of Advocacy
Alumni are some of Susquehanna’s strongest advocates. Fulfill the tradition of Advocacy by volunteering or doing any of the following:
- Sign up as an advocate during fundraising campaigns by sharing initiatives and helping generate support.
- Serve on university boards, committees or groups — such as the Alumni Board, Reunion Committee, Ring of Honor, Break Through speaker or SWSB Council/Mentoring Program.
- Follow and engage with Susquehanna on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Be sure to tag @SusquehannaU and use #SUSQU_SC when posting about SU.
- Become an Alumni Ambassador and spread the word about the Alumni Champions program.
- Host an alumni event.
- Support the Career Development Center or hire student interns.
A Tradition of Spirit
Demonstrate your school spirit by actively engaging with the Susquehanna community:
- Participate in Orange & Maroon Day by posting (#OandMDay) or submitting a photo of yourself in Susquehanna gear or other orange and maroon attire on August 29 to OandMday@susqu.edu.
- Stay in touch with faculty and staff via email or phone.
- Participate in experiential engagement — virtually or in person — through events, mentoring and programming.
- Serve on boards, committees or as a BreakThrough speaker, mentor or volunteer.
Senior Champions make the university stronger by embracing the traditions of Spirit, Advocacy and Giving during their final year on campus. With pride and purpose, they celebrate their Susquehanna experience and strengthen the connection between students and alumni. By completing three signature senior traditions, these champions build a lasting legacy. Their commitment ensures Susquehanna’s traditions continue to thrive for future generations.
Senior Champions will receive an orange and maroon cord to wear during their commencement ceremony, a limited-edition Senior Champion toiletry bag (while supplies last), public recognition online, discounted admittance to Homecoming–Reunion Weekend 2026, a ginkgo button for each tradition completed and more. Seniors who set up a recurring gift online will be recognized as a “Super Senior Champion” and receive FREE admittance to Homecoming–Reunion Weekend 2026.

A Tradition of Giving
You and the graduates who come after you are the difference makers of tomorrow! You’ve been supported throughout your college experience by the difference makers of yesterday and today. Continue the Susquehanna circle of support by completing the tradition of Giving today.
By making a gift of at least $5 — to any campus designation that is meaningful to you — and you will complete the tradition of Giving. To show our appreciation of your philanthropy and for also completing the traditions of Advocacy and Spirit, you will receive an orange and maroon commencement cord.
A Tradition of Advocacy
Students and alumni are Susquehanna’s best advocates. You can complete the tradition of Advocacy and help promote your alma mater doing any of the following:
- Signing up as an active advocate during annual fundraising initiatives by sharing campaigns and generating gifts to the university.
- Following Susquehanna’s Facebook, Instagram and TikTok accounts. Be sure to tag @SusquehannaU and use #SUSQU_SC when posting about Susquehanna events or when sharing your school spirit.
- Becoming a Student Alumni Ambassador. For additional information on this position and/or to apply email .
- Volunteering or completing other service work (through Greek Life, athletic teams, other clubs and organizations or just on your own!) for Susquehanna or the community.
- Donating an item to Hawk Stuff (drop box located in Hawk Hub). Submit your donation information here to receive credit.
- Writing a thank you note to someone on campus who has made a difference in your time at Susquehanna.
A Tradition of Spirit
Every time you wear your orange and maroon apparel and display your Susquehanna memorabilia, you are advancing your alma mater’s reputation in the world. Complete the tradition of Spirit by completing one of these activities:
- Participating in Orange and Maroon Day on Friday, Aug. 29.
- Submitting a photo of yourself wearing Susquehanna gear or other orange and maroon attire to .
- Attending the Senior Champion Kick-Off event.
- Attending any Break Through event during the annual student-alumni networking conference, Feb. 6-7, 2026.
- Attending the Break Through Career Trek to Philadelphia on Thursday, Sept. 25.
- Following @Susqu_SAA on Instagram for updates and additional opportunities to complete your steps.
