Fall Residence Hall Closing
During the Fall semester, the Residence Halls close at two different times: Thanksgiving Recess from Nov. 21, 2022 to Nov 27, 2022 and Winter Break from Dec. 16, 2022 to Jan. 20, 2023. Directions can be found below for these closures.
Thanksgiving Recess
All students must fill out the Thanksgiving Break form through Housing Self-Service. Students are permitted to stay on campus recognizing the shortened break and possible need but must complete the form found on Housing Self-Service to allow for the proper notifications pertaining to health and safety during this campus closure.
Students should make sure their rooms are properly secured before leaving campus. This means that the windows closed, door locked, and take their ID and key with them. Please leave your heat on a low setting, do not turn it off completely.
Winter Break
All Susquehanna University residence halls will officially close on Friday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. Students must vacate their residence hall within 24 hours of their last exam or by 3 p.m. on Friday, whichever comes first. All students must properly clean their space prior to their exit and should make sure their rooms are properly secured before leaving campus. This means that the windows closed, door locked, and take their ID and key with them. Please leave your heat on a low setting, do not turn it off completely. Need a short extension? Students needing to stay beyond 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 can request an extension through Housing Self-Service, this application will be available in early December.
24-Hour Quiet Hours For Finals Week
24-hour quiet hours begin Friday, December 9 at 6 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. Final exams create higher anxiety levels so be considerate of your neighbors. Violations of quiet hours may result in conduct referral and residents may be asked to checkout immediately.
Checking Out – Students Leaving SU in December
Rooms must be cleaned prior to departure. Trash must be removed and taken out of the building. Remove all food items from and Microfridge units; defrost the units and clean both the microwave and fridge by wiping down surfaces inside and out. Unplug the unit and leave the doors open. The cord should be put over the front of the refrigerator. An improper check out could result in a charge of up to $150.
All students graduating or leaving the institution must checkout of their space by removing all items from their room, cleaning the space, and returning their key in a Key Drop Box. These can be located outside the Office of Residence Life in Degenstein Campus Center and Campus Safety.
Food Service
The last meal on the meal plan is dinner Friday, Dec.16.
