Weather and Campus Update
Susquehanna University is open and under normal operating hours. The class schedule remains as usual. A wind chill advisory will be in effect through midday Monday. Limit time outside. Dress in layers and cover exposed skin, e.g., wear a hat and gloves. Everyone is advised to be cautious moving around. University work crews are diligently clearing paths and roads to provide for everyone's safety. Stay covered and safe.
Due to the low temperatures please DO NOT OPEN ANY WINDOWS and DO NOT PROP OPEN DOORS on campus! Fan coil units will freeze in a matter of minutes if exposed to these low temperatures. This could lead to major damage from flooding. Students will be held responsible for any damages if fan coil units freeze in resident hall rooms from open windows. If you see any windows open please contact facilities ASAP at extension 4147 to report them so we can get them closed right away. Fan coil units should be left on throughout this period with the temperature selector to warm or above.
Campus facilities asks for your help by reporting any areas (sidewalks, driveways, parking lots) on campus which have iced over or appear to be untreated. Call extension 4147 during business hours (M-F, 7:30 a.m, until 4:30 p.m.) or Public Safety at extension 4444 after hours and on weekends.
As with any weather there always remains the possibility of rapid changes to the forecast so we advise everyone to monitor local weather information.
