Faculty Recital: Jennifer Sacher Wiley and Jaime Namminga
Date:Friday, September 14, 2018
Location:Stretansky Concert Hall
Jennifer Sacher Wiley, violin, and Jaime Namminga, piano, will perform. The number 8 is connected to each of the pieces on tonight's program: in 8 sections, total, beginning with a movement from Mozart's sonata composed at the beginning of the eighth decade of the eighteenth century, to a continued celebration of John Corigliano's 80th birthday. Symbolically, the number 8 is said to represent balance, suggested by its symmetrical shape. We begin our program with a balanced sonata compilation of classical works (Brahms was a formal classicist, even though his melodies are expansively romantic) spanning just over 100 years. The key of F is associated with calmness and peace. Presented by the Department of Music.
