Selections from the Permanent Collection
Date:Friday, September 06, 2019 - Sunday, October 06, 2019
Location:Lore Degenstein Gallery
This exhibition draws from the eclectic collection of the Lore Degenstein Gallery of Susquehanna University. Curated by gallery director Dan Olivetti, the exhibition includes paintings, drawings, prints, fiber art, photography, sculpture and mid-20th-century French posters. Many of the recent works by contemporary artists have been acquired through the gallery’s annual figurative drawing and painting competitions and from artists who have been featured in gallery exhibitions. Other notable works include American Regionalist prints by such notable artists as John Steuart Curry, Thomas Hart Benton and Grant Wood. Two extraordinary pieces in the show, hewn from Italian Carrara marble, harken back to the classical days of sculpture. Polaroids and prints by Andy Warhol, donated to the gallery from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, will also be on display.
