Susquehanna University’s radio station, WQSU The Pulse, added two more Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Excellence in Broadcasting awards to its trophy case – making 10 in the past five years.

WQSU was recognized for the following projects.

  • Bella’s Pizza, Outstanding Radio Commercial, produced by Maci Tomlinson ’23, of Lewistown, Pennsylvania.
  • #GoMedia video, Judge’s Merit Award, produced by Erin Geouque ’24, of Landenberg, Pennsylvania.

“WQSU has been a keystone of the communications department for many years, and we are so proud to see our students and the station recognized by professional organizations for their exemplary work,” said Craig Stark, chair and associate professor of communications. “This type of recognition advances our students’ opportunities in today’s radio job market.”

The PAB Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting recognize the exceptional work being done by Pennsylvania broadcasters. PAB awards are presented in a variety of categories for both broadcast radio and television stations. This year, a total of 451 entries were received across 20 different categories, and the entries were judged by the Massachusetts Association of Broadcasters.

The PAB presented 87 awards to 47 different stations and broadcast groups — from college-affiliated stations to major network affiliates.

Founded in 1967, WQSU is a 10,500-watt station, making it the most powerful student-run college FM radio station in Pennsylvania.
