All of Susquehanna's Service Leaders gather for their first meeting of the semester.The second class of Susquehanna University Service Leaders (SUSL) are busy integrating themselves into the local community.

The SUSL program encourages first-year students to engage in a four-year leadership and training opportunity to influence youth development in the region.

Service Leaders in the Class of 2022 are:

• Kyler Balliet, a business administration major from Northumberland, Pa.
• Crystal Carsello, a biochemistry major from Forest City, Pa.
• Russ-Ahna Davenport, a physics major from Philadelphia, Pa.
• Shannon Eaton, a psychology major from Middleburg, Pa.
• Andrew Henry, a business administration major from Winfield, Pa.
• Raelyn Lares, an early childhood education major from East Stroudsburg, Pa.
• Kaitlyn Page Masser, a neuroscience major from Duncannon, Pa.
• Jack T. McLaughlin, an undeclared major from Chittenden, Vt.
• Marissa Redding, a psychology major from Fairfield, Pa.
• Andrea Repetz, a creative writing major from New Cumberland, Pa.

Service Leaders moved to campus the week before classes started to participate in orientation workshops, team-bonding activities and local service projects with Meals for Seals and The Improved Milton Experience.

Over the first semester, Service Leaders will meet twice a month for training to build their service and leadership skills as well as their civic identity. First-year students will partner with a community agency at the end of their first semester and will start working with their community partner sites six to eight hours per week during the spring 2019 semester.

The SUSL program is funded by a $7.1 million grant from a longtime friend of the university that wishes to remain anonymous. Sarah Farbo, assistant director of the Career Development Center, leads the program.
