Senior Rachel Heide ’19 has already managed more than eight theatre shows—and she hasn’t even graduated from college.

Heide says the theatre program at Susquehanna is committed to having student leaders train under their professors.

“It’s a great way to learn both the craft of making theatre and how to have successful interpersonal communication,” says Heide, who is a theatre production and design major with minors in both arts administration and public relations.

She currently serves as the production manager for the theatre department’s second stage season. As production manager, she oversees everything from making schedules to booking rehearsals to organizing meetings while also working alongside other students to produce shows.

After graduation, Heide hopes to move to New York City and work in theatre management.

“I know I want to be making theatre that makes a difference,” Heide says. “I always knew I wanted to work in the arts, but the SU theatre department gave me the confidence I needed to make that dream a reality.”
