Susquehanna University has named Jennifer Spotts director of strategic communications. She joined the Office of University Marketing and Communications on July 8.

In her new role, Spotts will develop overarching communications strategies and provide day-to-day oversight of the university’s digital, print and media relations efforts, working closely with the advancement and admission offices to meet their needs. She will also serve as editor of the university magazine and the Sigmund Weis School of Business magazine.

“Jennifer is a welcome addition to our team at Susquehanna,” said Aaron Martin, vice president for marketing and communications. “She brings a deep understanding of strategic communications and public and media relations. We look forward to her leadership in telling the SU story.”

During Spotts’ nearly 18-year tenure with the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU), she served first as a public relations specialist and later as the agency’s communications manager. In this capacity, Spotts served as a member of the strategic planning team with the executive director and senior leaders.

She also directed the development, design and content of a new website, which earned an Award of Excellence from the National School Public Relations Association in 2018; and directed the implementation of the organization’s social media efforts, training staff on the use of social media and effective strategies to promote the CSIU’s programs.

Prior to joining the CSIU, Spotts worked for the state Department of Education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Susquehanna University.
