Two Susquehanna University students have been chosen as Cultural Vistas Fellows, which allows them to complete an eight-week, international internship, all expenses paid, this summer.
Donovan Gayles, a sophomore political science major from Budd Lake, N.J., will be placed at an internship in Hong Kong, China. Aiyona Hayman, a junior creative writing major from Catawissa, Pa., will go to Berlin, Germany. Though the students have not yet been given specific assignments, all Cultural Vistas internships focus on civic engagement and youth involvement.
“Donovan and Aiyona are two of only 12 students selected nationwide to participate in this program,” said Karen Mura, associate professor of English and faculty coordinator for fellowship advising. “This is a tremendous achievement for them and quite an honor that two of the participants in the prestigious program are students at Susquehanna.”
The Cultural Vistas program selects up to 12 fellows to take part in this multinational professional development program that includes eight-week summer internships in Argentina, Germany and China.
Gayles and Hayman are part of the sixth class of Cultural Vistas Fellows. Fellows enrich their academic learning through professional internship and immersion experiences. One cohort of up to four fellows travels to each international destination.
