When I retired as an associate professor from the University of North Texas in August 2013, after 29 years on the faculty in the Department of Radio, Television and Film, I relocated to the mountains of Pennsylvania. Having been in higher education since 1984, I am able to compliment my academic background with 15 years experience in commercial and non-commercial radio, including working in Saudi Arabia and Germany.

My continued teaching at Susquehanna University enables me to purse publishing activities, including the forthcoming eighth edition of the Audio Production Worktext: Concepts, Techniques and Equipment, from Focal Press to be published in January 2016. My research interests include noncommercial broadcasting, programming effects, survey research, media pedagogy and audio production. Additionally, I remain active in the academy through my continued affiliation with the Broadcast Education Association, of which I served as BEA president in 2011-2012.

In August, 2014, the Texas Association of Broadcasters honored me with the “Educator of the Year” award. This accolade humbled me as I was nominated by my colleagues of many years from the Texas Association of Broadcast Educators.

As I begin my 32nd year of teaching this fall, I am reminded that it is the students and their enthusiasm to learn that keeps me young.
