Student Start-Up Market showcases entrepreneurship
Susquehanna University will host its third annual Student Start-Up Market, a dynamic showcase of student entrepreneurship, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in Apfelbaum Hall.
This year’s market will feature approximately 20 student-run ventures, offering a wide range of products and services. The market highlights a diverse mix of handcrafted goods, digital services and creative solutions, reflecting the entrepreneurial energy and talent at Susquehanna University.
The Student Start-Up Market provides students with a hands-on opportunity to launch and promote their businesses while engaging with the local community.
“We’re thrilled to bring together students and community members to celebrate entrepreneurship in action,” said Lauren Smith, lecturer at Susquehanna University. “The Start-Up Market allows students, regardless of major, to showcase their creativity, test their business ideas and build meaningful connections with potential customers and mentors.”
Local business leaders, entrepreneurs, alumni and community members are encouraged to attend to support these emerging entrepreneurs and experience firsthand the innovation happening on Susquehanna’s campus.
Exhibition to showcase senior portfolios
The Lore Degenstein Gallery will host a reception at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 14, to mark the opening of its latest exhibition Synergy. The exhibition runs through April 27.
Synergy is this year’s theme for the Senior Graphic Design and Studio Art Exhibition, the capstone experience for students majoring in those areas of study. Graphic design students must curate gallery collections of work they have completed during their four years at the university, while studio art majors present bodies of work created with a specific artist statement and goal. The pieces span a broad range of techniques, including but not limited to branding, layout, packaging, photography, painting, printmaking and collage.
The Lore Degenstein Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Sunday. The gallery is closed during university breaks. Visitors can call 570-372-4059 for an appointment when classes are not in session.
