The Lore Degenstein Gallery of Susquehanna University will host its third annual Figurative Drawing and Painting Competition Oct. 29, with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibition, free and open to the public, runs from Oct. 29 through Dec. 9.
The competition is a national, juried visual art competition and exhibition that is open to two-dimensional figurative artists over the age of 18 who are working in painting, drawing or printmaking. Works were selected by Cindy Stockton Moore, a Philadelphia-based painter and writer. Moore will announce the awards during her gallery talk at the opening reception.
The Lore Degenstein Gallery exhibits, interprets, collects and preserves objects of art and material culture that support academic investigations and contribute to the cultural life of central Pennsylvania. While adhering to professional standards of museum ethics, the gallery preserves and displays art from both the university's permanent collection and loans from other institutions and private collections.
The Lore Degenstein Gallery is located in the Charles B. Degenstein Campus Center at Susquehanna. The gallery is open seven days a week from noon to 4 p.m. For more information, call 570-372-4059 or visit www.susqu.edu/art_gallery.
