Sing Along With Susquehanna’s Choirs
Published on November 11, 2013
Community members are invited to join the choirs of Susquehanna University for a sing-along on Nov. 24. The event begins at 7 p.m. in Stretansky Concert Hall of the Cunningham Center for Music and Art.
The audience will join the choirs in singing choruses from the great oratorio “Messiah.” Written by Baroque composer George Frideric Handel, it “is without question the most famous of all oratorios in the repertoire,” said Julia Thorn, associate professor of music.
A student orchestra, featuring student soloists, will accompany the choirs on stage. These students have auditioned and have been selected to perform various arias with the orchestra. Thorn will conduct all the choirs and orchestra during the event.
Anyone interested in joining the choirs in singing “Messiah” can download the Part I and Hallelujah choruses from cpdl.org. Presented as a fundraiser for Susquehanna’s choral program, a $10 admission fee will be collected at the door.
