Educator to Discuss Social Justice and Equity

Barbara Love, a former social justice educator at the University of Massachusetts–Amherst, will give a lecture at Susquehanna University Jan. 30 at 4:15 p.m. in the Benjamin Apple Meeting Rooms of the Charles B. Degenstein Campus Center. The lecture is free and open to the public. She will explore institutional responsibility for creating a campus culture and climate that prepares students for effective functioning and responsible civic engagement in a global society.
Love consults with colleges and universities throughout the United States and abroad, in addition to a variety of other organizations, on issues of diversity and inclusion. She focuses on empowerment of women, especially women of color. Love has also published widely on issues such as internalized racism, self-knowledge for social justice educators, building alliances for change, and black identity development.
Her most recent research concentrates on personal, organizational and societal transformation, and strategies to end oppression.
