Susquehanna Presents Puccini One-Act Operas

Susquehanna University’s Department of Music will present two one-act operas by Giacomo Puccini at 8 p.m. March 14–15 and at 2:30 p.m. March 15–16. The performances will be held in Degenstein Center Theater of the Charles B. Degenstein Campus Center.
The performances will feature two of three one-act operas from Puccini’s “Il Trittico.” In the tragic “Suor Angelica,” a young woman is sent to a convent after bearing an illegitimate child. The comedic “Gianni Schicchi” involves a greedy family who seeks out the title character to help secure their dying relative’s inheritance.
Both operas will be sung in the original Italian with projected English translations.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for senior citizens, $7 for non-Susquehanna students, and free for Susquehanna students. Tickets are available by visiting the Susquehanna University Box Office or calling 570-372-ARTS (2787), Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m.
