Susquehanna Theatre Presents Timeless Love Story
Published on April 2, 2014
Susquehanna University’s Department of Theatre will present Shakespeare’s classic tragedy of star-crossed lovers, “Romeo and Juliet,” at 8 p.m. April 10–12 and 2:30 p.m. April 13 in Degenstein Center Theater in the Charles B. Degenstein Campus Center.
Directed by Associate Professor of Theatre W. Douglas Powers, the production takes a traditional approach to the time period in which the play is set, and features a cast of talented, young actors portraying the narrative in the way Shakespeare meant it to be seen. As tensions rise and rules are disobeyed, the production is sure to catapult audiences into the lives of these two lovers and their families.
“Romeo and Juliet” is one of Shakespeare’s earlier written plays and one of his most famous tragedies. This enduring tale of love and war within the walls of Verona offers many parallels to our polarizing world.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for non-SU students, and can be purchased by visiting the university box office or calling 570-372-ARTS (2787) from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
