About Me

Joseph Giomboni, Ph.D. is the author of “Thriving as a Communication or PR Major: Navigating the Hidden Path to Industry Success” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025). He is a frequent keynote speaker at professional conferences, including the National Communication Association, Eastern Communication Association, and the Hollywood Conference hosted by the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.  This study, funded by the Faculty Grant, examines unproduced scripts by horror icon George A. Romero featured in the archives at the Horror Studies Collection of the University of Pittsburgh Library System.

As Assistant Professor of Communications at Susquehanna University, he combines 14 years of PR industry experience with research on how emerging professionals navigate today’s complex media landscape. He currently teaches comm theory, public relations and advertising research methods, digital media essentials (website development and video editing), screenwriting, sports statistics, Writing for TV & Streaming Platforms, and the social media & sports capstone.

Dr. Giomboni earned his doctorate from Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University. His research addresses crucial topics like authentic social media presence, career trajectories in communications, and the evolution of creative labor in the digital age. His scholarship has been published in leading journals including Public Relations ReviewJournal of Public Relations EducationPublic Relations InquiryJournal of Education and Work, and Journal of Communication.
