Professional Experience

Marcus Smolensky is a former member of the Rochester Philharmonic, Syracuse Symphony and Harrisburg Symphony. He has been the featured soloist with the Valley Symphony (Edinburg, TX), the Martinu Philharmonic (Czech Republic), Central Pennsylvania Symphony (Hershey, PA), Genesee Symphony (Batavia, NY), the Lowell Philharmonic (Lowell, MA), and the University Circle Chamber Orchestra (Cleveland, OH).

Dr. Smolensky has held teaching positions at Lebanon Valley College, Penn State, and the University of Texas – Pan American. A founding member of the Metta String Quartet, he currently serves on the faculties of Susquehanna University and Bucknell University and maintains a large private teaching studio. He holds degrees in music performance from the Eastman School of Music, the Cleveland Institute of Music and Rutgers University where his primary teachers include violists William Berman, Francis Tursi, Heidi Castleman and Michael Tree.
