Alpha Lambda Delta
A prestigious and longstanding national organization, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society recognizes college students who demonstrate academic achievement and scholarship during their first year. Its mission is to “encourage superior academic achievement…to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society.”
The Office of First-Year Programs oversees the Susquehanna chapter and coordinates initiations each spring. Founded in 1977, the chapter was recognized in 2002 as one of the top five nationwide. Eligible students must achieve a semester or cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher during their first year of full-time study without any grades of F, I, or U.
Susquehanna's Alpha Lambda Delta chapter hosts a series of academic and service events throughout the year and encourages active participation from former initiates through their time at the university. Active membership continues through the sophomore year. Members who maintain the initiating average through their senior year are eligible to apply for graduate fellowships offered by the national society.
