Students who wish to enroll in summer courses at other colleges must begin the process by picking up an off-campus summer study form from the Registrar's Office on the lower level of Seibert Hall. Even when a course has already been approved for transfer, students must have their advisors' written approval in order to take coursework at another college. Under the university's residence requirement, students must take at Susquehanna 24 of their last 32 semester hours and their major capstone course and any other course a major program may designate (so anyone approaching his or her senior year needs to be careful about the amount of coursework he or she plans to take at another college over the summer).
Select the institution from the list below to determine how courses transfer to Susquehanna University. Information on the Web pages may or may not contain every course offered by an institution. If the course to be taken is not in the Registrar's Office database of previously approved courses, then a description must be reviewed and approved by the head of the SU department which offers such courses, who should initial beside the course. The form must be signed by the students' advisor and returned to the Registrar's Office.
Susquehanna will accept transfer credit only from U.S. institutions that are accredited by federally recognized regional accrediting agencies, such as the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Transfer credit from foreign institutions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Courses at other colleges may not carry the same credit as the equivalent course at SU. In such cases, SU will accept for transfer only as much credit as the parent institution has awarded the course. Courses that are approved for transfer as satisfying a specific core requirement will fulfill the requirement regardless of the number of credits awarded.
To be acceptable for transfer credit, the grade earned in any course must be at least a C-. Grades from other colleges are not factored into a student's Susquehanna g.p.a. At the end of the summer session students should arrange to have an official copy of their summer transcript sent directly to Monica Leitzel, Assistant Registrar, Susquehanna University, 514 University Ave, Selinsgrove, PA 17870-1164.
Susquehanna maintains a formal articulation agreement with Harrisburg Area Community College.
Please call or email the Registrar's Office if you have any questions about transferring summer coursework.
