It Is Time to Extinguish Hate … To Live in Light and Love

This evening, we were painfully reminded that we live in a broken world as we gathered for a vigil yet again to mourn black lives ended by murder. Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Floyd have joined a countless list of fatalities spawned from inequity and bigotry in America.

President Green wrote a blog post on Friday reflecting on our duty to forge a better future and reminding us that “We must not be overcome by the hate we wish to extinguish.”

As Dr. King so eloquently declared:

Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
