February brings theatre productions, a literature reading and a unique concert to the campus of Susquehanna University.

Writer, Actor Elena Passarello to Read from Works
Nonfiction writer and actor Elena Passarello will read from a selection of her works at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Weber Chapel Auditorium at Susquehanna University. This event is free and open to the public as part of the Seavey Reading Series at Susquehanna’s Writers Institute.
Passarello is the author of two essay collections, Let Me Clear My Throat (Sarabande, 2012) and Animals Strike Curious Poses (Sarabande, 2017), as well as an actor and animal lover.

REBEL to Present Concert of Baroque Music
REBEL, a critically acclaimed baroque ensemble specializing in 17th- and 18th-century repertoire performed on period instruments, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 in Susquehanna University’s Stretansky Concert Hall in the Cunningham Center for Music and Art.
The ensemble will work with students on campus during a Feb. 4-6 residency. The Susquehanna University Chamber Singers will then accompany REBEL to Manhattan to present an additional concert at the end of the week.
REBEL (pronounced “Re-BEL”) was formed in the Netherlands in 1991. Since then, the group has built an impressive international reputation, enchanting diverse audiences with its unique style and virtuosic, highly expressive and provocative approach to the baroque and classical repertoire.
Silent Sky Honors Astronomer Henrietta Leavitt
Susquehanna University’s 2018-19 Main Stage Season continues with Silent Sky at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21-23 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Degenstein Center Theater.
Silent Sky, by Lauren Gunderson, is the true story of Harvard Observatory astronomer Henrietta Leavitt. The play explores the life and work of a visionary woman in the 1900s, resisting oppressive gender expectations during a time of important scientific discoveries.

Second Stage to Present Crumbs from the Table of Joy
Susquehanna’s Second Stage will present Crumbs from the Table of Joy, by Lynn Nottage, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 through March 2 and 2:30 p.m. March 3 in the Degenstein Center Theater.
Crumbs from the Table of Joy sees racial and social issues explode as the backdrop of this powerful story about family bonds and conflict.
The Second Stage features a collection of mostly student-generated productions focusing on bare-bones performances of challenging works in unconventional spaces.
