Yom Kippur, or Day of Atonement, is the conclusion of the Ten Days of Awe. Yom Kippur is the holiest and most solemn of all days in the Jewish year. It is characterized by repentance, fasting, and forgiveness. A full 24-hour observance, it begins at sundown Oct.1 and ends at sundown Oct. 2.
