Title IX Resources

The following list of resources and guides have been compiled to help complainants, respondents, advisors and families have the information needed to fully comply with Title IX regulations.

Resources for Complainants & Respondents

Learn about rights, options, and protections in the Complainants Handbook or Respondents Handbook.

Has someone notified you that they’ve provided your name as a witness to a Title IX Investigation? Learn more information about next steps here.

Resources for Advisors

Per Susquehanna’s Policy and Procedures for Title IX, Sexual Assault, and Gender-Based Violence Policy, all students may be accompanied by an advisor of choice to meetings and hearings. Trained faculty and staff members are also available to assist. Because advisors of choice can play a pivotal role, we ask that students think carefully about who can best serve in this role.

Resources & Tips for Supporters

Supporting someone through a Title IX process can be emotional. Validate their experience, offer compassion and respect their autonomy. Susquehanna works directly with the student, requiring consent for involvement.

  • Ensure Safety
    • Suggest they reach out to trusted contacts or emergency services like 911 or Campus Safety (570-372-4444). Encourage that they document the incident and save messages or emails for reporting.
  • Practice Active Listening
    • Listen carefully, without judgment and avoid probing questions. Show them you understand the courage it took to share.
  • Provide Resources
    • Share on- and off-campus support services and resources like medical care, emergency contraception or counseling. Highlight confidential options for those not ready to talk openly.
  • Support Their Decisions
    • Respect their choices and offer support, regardless of the resources they decide to use.
  • Know Reporting Duties
    • If you are a mandated reporter, inform them. If not, maintain confidentiality and respect their privacy.

Resources While Abroad

We support students impacted by sexual misconduct or gender-based violence, whether on campus or abroad. While Title IX regulations primarily address incidents that occur in the Unites States, we offer resources and support globally.
