Our Mission

As a service to the entire Susquehanna Valley, the Department of Music’s Preparatory Program aims to provide a resource to all who seek musical enrichment. The Prep Program extends the mission of the Department to promote quality teaching and learning in a highly professional and nurturing environment, and to help students achieve their utmost musical potential from beginner through advanced levels.

The Prep Program provides our most accomplished college students with an opportunity to hone their teaching skills as a complement to our rigorous music education curriculum and as a vehicle to realizing the University’s aspiration that our students will lead lives of achievement, leadership and service.

As a multi-generational, multi-faceted community, the Prep Program gives all of our students and teachers a chance to recognize and celebrate interdependent scholarly and musical endeavors. This intersection promotes sensitivity to diversity of age, family orientation, cultural diversity, musical background and level of accomplishment.
