River Hawk Day

Monday, June 16 from 9:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

River Hawk Day is the premier summer opportunity for enrolling students to explore campus, meet their peers and connect with campus resources — all of which will help students and families/supporters prepare for a successful transition to Susquehanna in the fall.

9:45–10:15 a.m.

Check-In
Admission House

Receive information about the day’s events, check in on your River Hawk Portal progress, register for the Susquehanna Family Portal and grab some coffee before heading to the welcome.


10:15–10:30 a.m.

Welcome, River Hawks

Gather with other students and families to learn about everything lined up for River Hawk Day.


10:30–11:10 a.m. (Choose One)

THE RESIDENTIAL EXPERIENCE: Living and Learning on Campus
Weber Chapel Auditorium

Hear from Residence Life about what it is like to live on campus. You will learn about the staff who work to support you in the halls and we will go over tips and tricks to transition to a new space and new roommate. This will include some guidance about what to bring with you to set up your space and what your next steps look like to prepare for coming to campus.

THE COMMUTER EXPERIENCE: How To Connect While Commuting
Seibert Hall, Room 108 

You are invited to join us for a session created just for commuters. Meet other commuter students and the Commuter Student Organization’s advisor and learn more about what it is like to commute, how to connect with upper-class commuters, how to be engaged in campus life and other ways to make your drive smoother.

FOR FAMILIES: Letting Go & Staying Connected
Degenstein Center Theater (Degenstein Center)

Parents, families and guests will explore the upcoming transition and consider how to prepare to let go and support your student while they are at SU. 

FOR STUDENTS: SU Trivia & Getting Involved on Campus
Faylor Hall (Fisher Hall)

Participate in some SU trivia, snag some swag and learn from a panel of current students how to get involved on campus.


12:30–1:30 p.m.

Lunch and Resource Fair
Robert I. Estill Field House (James W. Garrett Sports Complex)

Over the lunch hour, enjoy varied food offerings provided for you and connect with other new students, their families and university staff. Explore campus resources at your leisure — check out the photo booth, create an airbrush masterpiece or visit the bookstore! See the list below to check out who will be at the fair.


1:40–2:10 p.m. (Choose One)

Getting To Know Student Financial Services
Faylor Hall (Fisher Hall)

Staff members from Student Financial Services (SFS), will give students and their supporters an opportunity to learn about services and timelines with regards to student aid and billing. We’ll also provide some reminders and tips to help students and their supporters successfully navigate the aid and billing processes at Susquehanna.

You Belong Here: How to Get Involved Early!
Isaacs Auditorium (Seibert Hall)

Join staff from the Leadership & Engagement office and the Center for Diversity & Inclusion to learn how students find spaces and communities of belonging on campus. We will highlight early opportunities for engagement as well as how to be involved for your entire SU journey. From 120+ student organizations to poetry nights, concerts, large and small events and traditions, there is something for everyone!

Soaring to Academic Success: Strategies and Support for Collegiate Excellence
Isaacs Auditorium (Seibert Hall)

Hear from the Center for Academic Success and the TRiO and REACH Scholars Program staff to learn about strategies, resources, and tips for being academically successful during the transition from high school to college. Discover how to best work with and receive support on campus and learn about how the expectations in college differ from high school. This workshop will also include specialized resources and guidance for first-generation, income-eligible and disabled students. Additionally, explore available tutoring services and academic skills workshops designed to strengthen your learning experience and support your academic journey.

First Year to Career: Transferable Skills and Student Employment
Faylor Hall (Fisher Hall)

Even though the start to college is a few months away, it is never too early to start thinking about resumes, on campus jobs, and career preparation. Learn about the services provided by the Career Development Center and why it’s important for new students to engage with the CDC starting in their first semester on campus.


3:15–4 p.m. (Choose One)
