Susquehanna University was awarded a $30,000 grant from Pennsylvania’s It’s On Us initiative to combat campus sexual assault.

Gov. Tom Wolf recently announced nearly $1 million in grants to 38 colleges and universities throughout the state.

Susquehanna will use its share to bring the Green Dot bystander education program to campus.

Green Dot is a comprehensive, research-based bystander intervention program that approaches students, staff, administrators and faculty as allies. The program relies on the premise that if everyone does their small part and commits to individual responsibility, the combined effect is a safe campus culture that is intolerant of violence.

Susquehanna will educate 30 faculty and staff members in a train-the-trainers model that the university will then implement across campus.

It’s On Us is national initiative created by President Barack Obama and White House Council on Women and Girls to raise awareness and fight against sexual assault on college campuses. The Wolf Administration has invested a total of nearly $3 million for It’s On Us grants over the past three years.
