When it came time for Elizabeth Hebert ’20 to decide where to study abroad, she was inspired by her family’s heritage to spend a semester in Dublin, Ireland.

“I have loved learning about history ever since I was small, and I wanted to explore the history of Ireland from the Vikings to the current news,” she says. Hebert got her chance — touring five castles and the historic Christ Church Cathedral.

While studying in a new culture had some hiccups — even getting groceries delivered proved challenging due to having an American cell phone number — Hebert enjoyed the opportunity to “expand my knowledge of the world.”

Hebert studied through CIEE, a third party provider that our students often work with on GO Long semester abroad experiences.

“There are directors through CIEE who help you before and during the program. They have discussions via FaceTime with you before departure,” Hebert explains.

At Susquehanna, Hebert is a communications studies major with minors in arts administration and music performance. She is a member of the orchestra, SU Strings and the Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity for women and is the social media chair of the Public Relations Student Society of America.

After graduation, she hopes to work in marketing for a theatre company.
