Student & Alumni Networking

Tap Into River Hawk Connections

As a River Hawk, you gain access to networking opportunities with more than 20,000 alumni.

The connection between Susquehanna University students and alumni is a powerful asset for career growth and mentorship. Through networking events, industry panels and career fairs, students gain valuable insights, career advice and professional connections from accomplished alumni across various fields. This supportive community fosters lifelong relationships, helping students navigate career paths with confidence and real-world guidance.

Take advantage of these networking opportunities, which are open to all majors in all class years. They could even lead to an internship, or even a job!

Break Through

Susquehanna’s annual student-alumni networking conference connects you to alumni who were once students like you and are excited to help you as you move toward graduation and beyond.

In addition to the Break Through conference held on campus each year, you can take a Career Trek to visit alumni working in major cities. From both experiences, you’ll learn how to make the most of your college experience, make friends after graduation and land your first job.

“Susquehanna has a really strong alumni network, and the alumni feel so passionate about their experiences here. They are always willing to give back to our current students and that’s something that I have benefited from tremendously.”

Autumn DeCosmo ’25

“At Susquehanna, sophomores are paired with a mentor within their major. As a finance major, I connected with an alumna at Prudential Financial. It has been an incredible experience to see how her Susquehanna education led to her current success, demonstrating how a small school can produce such great outcomes.”

Hailey Bowden ’26

“Being involved in the Break Through events helped answer many of my questions about the business community and what life is truly like outside the safe haven (of) school.”

Alex Wager ’20

“I think it’s incredibly useful for students to see and experience a day with alumni who are working in their potential fields. Besides the insights learned on-site, the connections that can be made at the evening reception are equally valuable to students.”

John Mazuire ’20

“At Break Through, I attended a panel on working in the nonprofit sector, where they spoke a lot about working with the Peace Corps. It’s something that I’ve thought about before, and after what I heard it’s something that I am really looking forward to [pursuing].”

Lauren Berkel ’19

“The alumni who help at the Break Through event are the reason Susquehanna University students are so successful. I, for one, know that I will be reaching out to the people I met for future help.”

Women’s Leadership Initiative

Inspired by a fundraising challenge from members of the Board of Trustees, Susquehanna University launched the Women’s Leadership Initiative in 2017.

The initiative supports a robust, four-year preparation plan for every female student that includes career treks to major cities and job-shadowing experiences that connect them with Susquehanna alumni. Additionally, the initiative provides opportunities for students to attend professional conferences and secure summer research, internships or other experiential learning opportunities.
